Siding

Adding siding to a house is beneficial in a number of ways. Any type of siding, whether it’s wood, vinyl or shingles, helps make your home more energy  efficient; protects it from the elements; and provides a pleasing, homogeneous appearance that can increase its future resale value. At MHC Gutters you’ll find a variety of siding types and styles to choose from, including horizontal siding and vertical siding panels. We also provide custom siding solutions. If you are interested in siding for your home, business, industrial building or commercial property, our siding installation specialists will be able to advise you on everything you will need to complete your specific project from start to finish.

Vinyl Siding

At MHC Gutters, we offer vinyl siding in a variety of colours, thicknesses and varying widths. Of all of the materials used for siding, vinyl is typically the most economical. It’s durable, long-lasting and fade-resistant, lasting for years without needing to be replaced. Because its colour is part of its composition (permeating the entire panel), vinyl siding requires no painting and minimum maintenance.

Engineered Wood Siding

Engineered wood siding, also called composite wood siding, is made from wood and wood products that have been recycled, mixed with a binding substance such as resin, and then formed into siding panels when heat and pressure are applied. Engineered wood siding can be manufactured to have any texture, including wood grain, stucco and brick. It has all the inherent qualities of wood  – its organic appearance, warmth and versatility – but without its problems like rotting, cracking or splitting. Our engineered wood siding comes in a wide range of colours, making it easy for you to find the right look for your home.

Shingle Siding

Shingle siding is typically made from wood, often red or white cedar. Cedar is a popular shingle siding material, valued for the way it “ages.” Depending on local weather conditions, red cedar turns a silver grey or soft brown, while white cedar can become light grey or deep silver. Shingle siding can also be made of engineered wood or fiber cement. Cedar shakes, another type of shingle siding, are split instead of sawn, like cedar shingles are.

Wood Siding

Especially as a siding material for homes, wood siding has a natural appeal that is timeless. It also gives a home an individual appearance, since each board is unique, with its own distinctive grain. While in the past, wood siding has been known to be “high maintenance,” today, many types of wood siding is factory-finished, ready to install and to protect your home for many years to come. Formulated wood siding that has been installed with proper insulation or lining requires minimum to low maintenance, depending on the geographic location.

Fiber Cement Siding

Fiber cement siding is made by combining wood fibers with cement. It is extremely versatile because it can be made to look like natural wood siding, brick, stone and even cedar shingles. It is available in a wide range of colours, designs and sizes. There are many advantages to choosing fiber cement siding: durability; doesn’t rot like wood or wear down like brick; and doesn’t expand and contract like vinyl, to name just a few. Fiber cement is also known as concrete siding, cement fiber siding and concrete board.
